Payment
Hello everyone!
I am very interested in au pairing for a family and they have said the same thing. One thing they haven't mentioned is my wages. On their profile it's "negotiable"
Should they have mentioned this by now?
And is it important that I haven't actually spoken with them yet, it's all been via e-mails.
I am not suspicious of this family as they seem lovely I am just wondering if it's the normal custom
Thanks very much
Lizzie

Re: Payment
Hello Lizzie,
I hope you are fine
I think you should definitively ask your salary at your future host family, because first of all you'll be an employee and you need to know before to begin your work how much you'll be paied to avoid to be under-paied..
You never know...
Know as aupairs who work 25 hours per weeks have to be paied 60-6 pounds per week, but usually you can expect more than that, you can negociate as well
But really ask before to be hire, don't not be disappointed...life is so expensive...
See ya then tell us what they'll reply

Re: Payment
I said that I would love the job and the only things i could think of left to ask were my start date and my salary.
They replied telling me both
I will earn $200 a week
So I'm very happy now!!
Thanks for your advice:cheers:

Re: Payment
Sorry Amandine!
I thought I had already replyed to you!
I started on the 25th January and the old au pair was here for 10 days, so I got to know her job and what she did and the children got to know before I took over which I think worked really well.
I am at the base of the Blue Mountains about an hour west of Sydney.
And the website I used was newaupair.com
I hope you had a good Christmas, New year and are looking forward to easter!!!
